Student Challenge Problem in Signal Processing

A Student Challenge problem has been proposed under the auspices of the Technical Committee on Signal Processing in Acoustics (TC-SP) of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA). The problem is to estimate relevant parameters for a vehicle traveling along a road using a wav file recorded using a microphone located near the side of the road as the truck passes by. This problem, in which considerable information is to be extracted from a single sensor recording, is both realistic and relevant. Information about the Student Challenge problem is available on the Acoustics Today website by following this link. More details about the whole Student Challenge idea will be discussed in the summer 2014 issue of Acoustics Today which will be on line about June 16, 2014.

Submissions are due by 31 July 2014. Entrants need not be members of ASA but must be university students.
